Upcoming Audition Dates

Springfield Youth Performance Group will hold dance auditions on Sunday, November 9, 2014, for its upcoming production of the classical ballet, The Snow Queen. Auditions will be held at Springfield Dance, 5531 International Parkway, Springfield.  Attached is the audition packet with detailed information and the audition form that you may complete prior to arrival at auditions.

Registration for dance auditions will be held from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. with auditions from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. There will be a brief parent meeting following the completion of auditions. Dance auditions are open to children ages 7 to 13 and numerous parts are available for both boys and girls. Children must be enrolled in a dance class at any dance studio to audition (ballet class suggested). They will be taught choreography at the audition. All participants must arrive by the close of registration and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Girls should have their hair in a bun and wear a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Boys should wear a white t-shirt, black pants and black ballet or jazz shoes.

Rehearsals will be once a week on Monday evenings between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM, starting Monday, November 17, 2014. Performers must be available for each Monday evening rehearsal between the hours of 5:30 and 8:30 PM - however, they will generally only need to be present and rehearse from 30 to 60 minutes each week. Note that there will not be rehearsal on Monday, December 29th. There will also be mandatory Sunday afternoon rehearsals on January 4th, 11th and 18th, 2015.

SYPG will present The Snow Queen on February 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Hoogland Center for the Arts. The magic and mystery of Hans Christian Anderson's engaging classic children's story will be brought to life with original choreography by Ronda Brinkman.

Please email SYPG at if you have any questions or would like any further information.  Feel free to share this opportunity with other dancers in our community!
